Number of growers by number of vegetables produced• The number of growers cultivating a single vegetable declined by 7.7% from 3526 in 2007/08 to 3257 in 2008/09.
• The proportion of growers of a single vegetable represented 56% of all growers in 2008/09, similar to 2007/08.
• The number of growers cultivating 1-3 vegetables declined by 8.5% from 5396 in 2007/08 to 4938 in 2008/09.
• The number of growers with 4-7 vegetables declined by 13% from 789 in 2007/08 to 685 in 2008/09.
• In contrast the number of growers with 8-15 vegetables rose by 17.6% from 153 in 2007/08 to 180 in 2008/09.
• The number of growers producing a wide range of 16 or more vegetables declined sharply from 27 in 2007/08 to 9 in 2008/09.
