Grower Distribution by Value of Operations• After a general fall in the number of vegetable growers on farms in the lower farm size categories (based on value of operations in 2008/09), the number rose substantially in 2009/10.
• The proportion of growers in the lowest category (value of operations below $22,500) was the highest since this series began in 1996/97 at 18.5%.
• The proportion of growers on farms with a value of operation less than $50,000 rose from 24% in 2008/09 to 33% in 2009/10 and the proportion on farms with a value of operation below $100,000 from 40% to 48%.
• Conversely the proportion of vegetable growers with value of operations above $100,000 fell from 60% in 2008/09 to 52% in 2009/10 and those on farms where the value of operations was above $350,000 fell from 32% to 29%.
