Number of vegetable growers by State
- The number of vegetable growers classified to vegetable growing rose in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania in 2009/10 but fell in the other States and the two Territories.
- However the number of growers on farms where vegetables were grown was up in all States except Queensland and the Northern Territory in 2009/10.
- Due to the fall in grower numbers in Queensland, New South Wales now has the largest number of growers. Together these two states account for 51% of the total number of vegetable growers. However vegetable farms in New South Wales on average are smaller than in the other States.
