Yields need to be treated with caution as they vary significantly between regions and on whether vegetables are produced in field or undercover.
  • 12 vegetables achieved higher yields in 2008/09 compared with 2007/08.
  • Yields fell for 28 vegetables.
  • 8 vegetables achieved growth in yields in excess of 12% in 2008/09. There were increases in yields above 20% in the case of eggplants, fennel, herbs (other than parsley), and melons (other).
  • Yields fell by more than 12% for 10 vegetables. There were declines in excess of 20% in the case of artichokes, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, parsley, rock and cantaloupe melons, green peas, and silverbeet and spinach.
