Despite Coronavirus (COVID-19) impacting numerous events, the industry-funded East Gippsland Vegetable Innovation Days (EGVID) will still go ahead in Lindenow from 7-8 May.

The fast-moving developments of the COVID-19 outbreak has forced the postponement of the Tenth International Spinach Conference, until a more suitable date can be found.

The Spinach Conference was scheduled for 6 May in Lakes Entrance as part of the EGVID 2020 program.

Due to the “in-field growing trial” nature of the event, the EGVID committee is working on how they can and will revise the EGVID program to comply with directives and meet expectations around the current circumstances.

With planting of long-and-short cycle vegetable crops well underway, EGVID Lead Grower Daniel Hammond, is working tirelessly to establish the seed demonstration site at Lindenow’s Maddies Paddock in the lead up to the event.

With a big focus on innovation, food security, collaboration, sustainability, future farmers and well-being, the 2020 EGVID week, powered by Zorvec active, is still of paramount importance to local communities and broader region economically, as they recover from the impact of the fires.

The committee will continue to monitor the advice of authorities and keep everyone informed via the AUSVEG Weekly Update and the @EGVID2020 Twitter and Facebook accounts.
