The Department of Agriculture has released an Industry Advisory Notice to advise industry that exports of fresh cucurbit species produced in Queensland are temporarily suspended to New Zealand, following a positive detection of Cucumber Green Mottle Mosaic Virus (CGMMV) from Queensland’s CGMMV Pest Free Area.

The New Zealand National Plant Protection Organisation, The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) will no longer recognise the current Pest Free Area for CGMMV in Queensland. Commodities affected are:

  • Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus)
  • Cucumber (Cucumis sativus)
  • Honeydew melon (Cucumis melo)
  • Rock melon (Cucumis melo)
  • Scallopini (Cucurbita pepo)
  • Zucchini (Cucurbita pepo)
  • Pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo)
