Freight flights boost for Australian exporters
AUSVEG has welcomed the government’s announcement to extend the International Freight Assistance Mechanism (IFAM) until the end of the year, which will allow Australia’s vegetable grower-exporters to continue to supply important export markets to meet the demand for high-quality fresh vegetables.
IFAM has secured additional $240 million in government funding to extend the program until the end of the year.
This extension brings the total funding government has now committed to IFAM to $350 million, and is expected to assist $3 billion of exports by December 2020.
The IFAM program has already assisted more than 1,800 flights to deliver 36,000 tonnes of agri-produce to over 50 international markets, valued at $1 billion.
