Hort Connections is a joint initiative between AUSVEG and the Produce Marketing Association Australia-New Zealand (PMA A-NZ), and this year’s event will be held from 7–9 June 2021 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

After a year hiatus, the Hort Connections 2021 conference will incorporate unparalleled networking opportunities for everybody in the horticulture supply chain; a trade show showcasing leading local and global businesses; and world-class speakers.

The event brings together industry members and other interested parties from every segment of the fresh produce and floral supply chain, including growers, industry service providers, government stakeholders and researchers.

The preliminary program for Hort Connections 2021 has now launched, with an extensive range of speaker sessions, networking events and an expansive trade show, there’s sure to be something for everybody in the fresh produce value chain.

The plenary sessions and separate speaker streams are highlights of each year’s event. At these sessions, industry members come together to share knowledge, discuss their lived experiences and contribute to conversations about the future of our sector.

AUSVEG and PMA A-NZ are excited to announce the first confirmed plenary speaker: celebrity chef, cookbook author and broadcaster Alice Zaslavsky.

Alice’s vegetable bible In Praise of Veg topped the Australian cookbook charts, proving that you can, in fact, make friends with salad.

As a regular face and voice on ABC News Breakfast and ABC radio nationally, Alice brings audaciously accessible recipes and useful tidbits to viewers and listeners that helps drive the country’s conversations around food.

Alice is also the creative force behind Nomcast and Phenomenom (with an M!), a Hort Innovation-funded project, redefining what it means to teach kids about fresh produce and bringing food into every subject – both in the classroom and at home.

Meanwhile, hear from Rob Redenbach, a keynote speaker and leadership coach who has appeared at over 850 conferences in 23 countries, present at the ever-popular Perfection Fresh Breakfast at Hort Connections.

Drawing from experiences that include working with Nelson Mandela’s bodyguard team in South Africa and providing specialist security services in the Middle East, Rob provides powerful insights into reducing risk in business and everyday life. His hands-on background is balanced with a Master of Arts (with Distinction) in Safety & Security from the Australian Graduate School of Policing.

He has also studied dispute resolution at Bond University and completed Executive Education at Harvard.
