Women play an essential role in communities all around the world, and here in Australia they provide a vital contribution to our agriculture sector.

The Women in Horticulture event is a key feature of Hort Connections each year and provides a chance to reflect on and celebrate the fantastic achievements of women within the horticulture industry.

Attendees for this year’s event (to be held on Wednesday 26 June) will hear from Tammie Matson, an Australian zoologist and author with a passion for Africa and all its wildlife; and Josie Thomson, CEO of Wise Advocate Enterprises, a multi award-winning executive coach, acclaimed speaker, author, single mum and two-time cancer survivor.

The event will also celebrate the nominees of the 2019 Boomaroo Nurseries Women in Horticulture Award, before the award is presented that evening at the Hort Connections Gala Dinner. The Award proudly supports female industry members who have demonstrated outstanding ability and success in their chosen field and celebrates an individual who is proactive and has shown commitment to achieving success.

This year’s event will also proudly support Share the Dignity, a charity that provides sanitary products to women and transgendered people who are in a crisis or homeless, allowing them a sense of dignity when they need it most.
