DESCRIPTION:The 2017 Safety and Health Workshops are aimed at anyone who is a business owner\, employer\, manager\, supervisor\, safety and health representative or an OSH manager. \nYou will have the opportunity to hear and learn from presenters with a wealth of occupational safety and health industry experience and expertise\, as well as gain tools\, techniques and strategies to take back to your workplace. \nMorning session: Fatigue is more than feeling tired and drowsy. It can occur because of prolonged mental or physical activity\, sleep loss and/or disruption of the internal body clock. This workshop will examine the science of sleep and the effects on mental and physical health. The workshop will also examine how fatigue impacts local commuting\, office workers\, construction\, production and maintenance work\, heat and hydration and occupational drivers. \nAfternoon session: Andrew Sutherland will introduce the topic of human factors and its role in workplace safety\, including: \n\nFocus on ensuring human reliability in safety critical tasks\nUnderstanding why and how people make mistakes\nIntroduction to the factors that influence human performance\nImproving workplaces and equipment to prevent errors\n\nFor more information\, see the event website.

DESCRIPTION:Growcom\, along with regional horticulture bodies\, invites Queensland growers to attend free grower-specific regional workshops to help them understand how the Code protects their businesses and to make sure they meet their obligations. \nThese workshops will help growers understand types of trading arrangements and additional protections under the new Code.
