This short investment used a suite of economic models to measure and understand how the horticulture industry contributes to the Australian economy. The project estimated the direct and indirect impacts on the national economy, as well as regional areas.

The research found that the value of the horticulture industry is projected to increase by 22.5 per cent from 2020 to reach $21.8 billion in 2030.

These insights provide the horticulture sector with the information needed to articulate how its activities contribute to regional, state and national economies, and will assist in decision-making as well as discussions with governments and other stakeholders.

The analysis produced a number of case studies that provide detailed information on the importance of the horticulture industry to Australia.
