SUMMARY:Building Better Soils: A Masterclass on Soil Biology
DESCRIPTION:Home / Applied Horticultural ResearchExpressions of interest are open! \nJoin the Soil Wealth ICP team for a hands-on\, two-day Soil Health Masterclass designed specifically for vegetable and melon growers and agronomists. Dive deep into the science and practical application of soil biology and discover how to unlock the potential of your soils to enhance crop productivity\, improve nutrient cycling\, and ensure sustainable farming practices. \nWhat to Expect: \n\nIn-depth Learning: Learn from experts about soil biology and how it can directly improve vegetable production. Topics will include soil structure\, management practices to enhance soil biology\, how soil biology can breakdown biomass and agrichemicals\, nutrient availability\, nitrogen calculating and much more.\nPractical Application: Gain hands-on experience through practical sessions focused on how to manage soil biology for healthier crops and better yields through practices such as cover cropping\, crop rotations\, reduced tillage and soil amendments.\nField Visit: See theory in action with a field visit to a Soil Wealth ICP demonstration site\, where you’ll learn how nitrogen from legume and cereal cover crop residues is being used to support vegetable brassica crops.\nPanel Discussion: Engage with experts in a panel discussion\, exploring current challenges\, solutions\, and the future of soil health in vegetable farming.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for vegetable and melon growers and agronomists to expand their knowledge and apply new strategies for improving soil health\, enhancing crop performance\, and fostering long-term sustainability. \nWho Should Attend: \nVegetable and melon growers and agronomists looking to gain a deeper understanding of soil biology to improve soil health\, productivity and sustainability\, and apply learnings to their production system. \nExpress Your Interest:\nThis masterclass is open for expression of interest and is limited to 30 spots. Stay tuned for detailed topics and registration information coming in January 2025. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to improve your soil management practices\, learn from experts and network with growers and agronomists. \nClick to here to fill out the expression of interest form.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Internal Fruit Rot of Capsicum – Project summary
DESCRIPTION:Home / Applied Horticultural Research\nJoin the SWICP team as we talk with the (VG17012) Internal fruit rot of capsicums project team. Dr Jenny Ekman\, Dr Len Tesoriero\, Dr Naomi Diplock and Ryan Hall will discuss the findings of management trials\, disease surveys\, and pathogenicity trials from the project and suggestions for the future. \nInternal Fruit Rot of capsicums is an important disease in capsicum fruit. Caused by a number of fungal species the disease can remain hidden until it reaches to consumers\, resulting in complaints and reductions in consumer confidence. \n\nThis webinar will cover the trials undertaken to identify the causal organisms in Australia\, in-crop management trials \,and postharvest trials. \nFor more information please contact Ryan Hall on 0406 994 509 or ryan.hall@ahr.com.au from Applied Horticultural Research
