DESCRIPTION:Home / Fairymead HouseVegPRO is bringing its free two-day negotiations and influencing workshop to Bundaberg\, Queensland as part of the VegNET program being delivered by Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers. \nVegPRO is a strategic levy investment project under the Hort Innovation Vegetable Fund that is delivering targeted\, tailored training for Australian vegetable growers. In this course\, industry members who deal with people on a day-to-day basis (whether it be with customers\, staff\, transport and logistics companies or anyone else) can learn a wide range of useful skills\, including: \n\nincreased confidence and effective communication;\nmanaging emotional and difficult conversations;\ncontrolling and influencing conversation to get better pricing outcomes;\npreparing effectively to combat pushes from buyers; and\nidentifying other people’s tactics and having a strategy for responses.\n\nDates: 14-15 March 2018\nLocation: Fairymead House\, Thornhill St\, Bundaberg QLD \nThis workshop is a valuable initiative that has previously been delivered in other growing regions\, including Gatton in Queensland and at the South Australian Produce Market. BFVG Vegetable Industry Development Officer Michelle Haase has written a great blog post on the workshop and what it can offer growers\, including testimonials from growers who learned from the course and have negotiated better price outcomes thanks to the skills they picked up. \nTo register for this free workshop or to see more information\, click here. If you’re interested\, you can also contact Sophie Lapsley from RMCG at sophiel@rmcg.com.au or on 0426 200 996. \nFor more information on the VegPRO project and how growers are shaping its training opportunities\, listen to the latest edition of the InfoVeg Radio podcast. \n

SUMMARY:Workshop: Women in farm business (Bundaberg)
DESCRIPTION:Home / Fairymead HouseIn October\, QFF is hosting workshops to connect with women in farm businesses. The workshops will look at the range of leadership spaces where women could have an impact and open discussions about the barriers that constrain women from stepping into wider leadership roles and the support or resources that would be useful to help them move ahead in business and beyond. \nThese workshops are an opportunity for women to pause for a moment\, consider their options and aspirations\, and plan their next move. \nJess Fealy\, Mareeba mango and avocado grower and Queensland finalists in the 2017 Rural Women’s Awards\, will talk about the strategies she has used to build her networks and influence\, and there will be some other inspiring speakers as well. \nThese workshops are funded through the Office of Small Business under the Advancing Women in Business program and also supported by Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) and AustSafe Super. The workshops will help QFF prepare recommendations for the best way forward for leadership development for women in Queensland’s agricultural sector. \nFor more information\, see the event website.
