AUSVEG National Manager – Communications Shaun Lindhe appeared in online stories this week discussing the increased celery prices seen in recent weeks. Mr Lindhe noted that there was anecdotal evidence suggesting an increased interest in drinking pure celery juice, which is pushing up demand at the same time as supply is being squeezed by adverse weather conditions in Victoria and Queensland. For more, see the full story in The Guardian.

Mr Lindhe also appeared in online media covering the discovery in Queensland of a grey ladybird species that could potentially act as a predator of tomato potato psyllid. Mr Lindhe noted the ladybird could be a control option as part of an integrated management system, and emphasised the importance of growers, industry members and the general public all following strict biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of tomato potato psyllid.
