VegNET R&D project updates and discussion
24 March 2020Latest Harvest to Home Comprehensive review: Carrot
24 March 2020Despite Coronavirus (COVID-19) impacting numerous events, the industry-funded East Gippsland Vegetable Innovation Days (EGVID) will still go ahead in Lindenow from 7-8 May.
Due to the “in-field growing trial” nature of the event, the EGVID committee is revising the event program, so it still allows them to share knowledge and innovative practices, while showcasing collaborations with key industry stakeholders.
The committee is exploring ways the industry can connect with the seed and ag-chem trials in a format that complies with directives and meets expectations around the current circumstances.
This is likely to include a significant online engagement program that highlights innovation, food security, collaboration, sustainability, future farmers and well-being.
With planting of long-and-short cycle vegetable crops to be completed in coming weeks, and agricultural chemical and fertiliser trials all but established, EGVID Lead Grower Daniel Hammond has been working tirelessly to establish the seed demonstration site in Lindenow.
