Economic contribution of Australian horticulture
7 November 2022Soil wealth and integrated crop protection – phase 2
3 January 2023In 2022, this short project facilitated a collaborative identification of key pest (insect, disease and weed) challenges for the Australian potato industry and design of appropriate RD&E concepts to address these issues.
Over the course of the workshop, 30 potato industry members were involved including seed and processing potato producers and representatives from industry bodies and research organisations.
The key areas of discussion at the workshop were:
- The current pest issues facing the potato industry
- What a successful RD&E program looks like
- What is needed to get there.
The insights from this workshop will be used to inform future levy-funded investments in the potato industry.
This project has been funded by Hort Innovation, using the research and development levies listed below and contributions from the Australian Government. Hort Innovation is the grower-owned, not-for-profit research and development corporation for Australian horticulture.
