The national peak industry body for Australia’s vegetable, potato and onion growers congratulates Deputy Opposition Leader David Littleproud MP on his re-appointment as Shadow Agriculture Minister, Senator Anne Ruston on her return as Shadow Health and Aged Care Minister, as well as Kevin Hogan MP on his reappointment as Shadow Trade Minister.
With Shadow Ministry appointments of importance to the vegetable industry comprising a combination of returning and new faces, AUSVEG also welcomes Jamie Chaffey MP as Shadow Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Andrew Hastie MP as Shadow Home Affairs Minister, Tim Wilson MP as Shadow Employment Minister, Angie Bell MP as Shadow Environment Minister, and Senator Ross Cadell as Shadow Water Minister.
AUSVEG CEO Michael Coote said AUSVEG is eager to continue building on its record of strong engagement with both Government and Shadow Ministers in the interests of Australian vegetable, potato and onion growers.
“As vegetable growers across the country continue facing serious, viability threatening challenges, it is critical that all sides of politics are focused on and committed to securing the long-term future of Australia’s vegetable industry,” said Mr Coote.
“We look forward to continuing to work with all members of the Shadow Ministry to ensure the importance of Australia’s vegetable industry to Australia’s health, economic stability and food security is recognised – and that the need to address the key issues facing the sector are reflected in both Government and Opposition policy.”
