2 July 2019The third and final day of Hort Connections 2019 went off with a bang, with a huge range of speakers and sessions for delegates to attend.
Starting off at the Syngenta Breakfast Sessions, attendees were inspired by author, pilot and farmer Sam Bailey and his incredible story of courage and persistence. Three concurrent streams then kicked off the speaker sessions for the day, with delegates offered a huge range of topics from experts in a number of areas. The Growing & Farming stream looked at a number of specifics in horticulture production, including organics, irrigation and vermiculture, Over the Horizon featured discussions on AI and blockchain, while the Supply Chain & Consumers stream delved deep into the minds of consumers, looking at everything from human senses to supply chain sustainability.
A number of Trade Show Speaker Sessions gave delegates the chance to take in even more over the course of the day, while the Trade Show once again provided an opportunity for delegates to network, see the latest innovations and even win some prizes.
The afternoon was all about celebrating diversity within the sector. The PMA A-NZ Fresh Perspectives: Diversity & Inclusion session featured a workshop held by Fiona Krautil, before the annual Women in Hort event saw attendees learn about facing challenges and the neuroscience of resilience.
The Gala Dinner finished off Hort Connections 2019 in style, with delegates dressing up to celebrate the end of the event and celebrate the winners of the 2019 National Awards for Excellence.
A big thank you to everyone who made Hort Connections 2019 the wonderful event that it was. We’ll see you in Brisbane for Hort Connections 2020!
