Excitement and support for the International Spinach Conference is building, with Bayer now confirmed as the event’s Major Sponsor and many of the world’s leading spinach seed breeders also providing sponsorship.

Darren Wood, ANZ Commercial Lead for Vegetables by Bayer, is “proud to support the International Spinach Conference as the major sponsor, as it brings together industry experts and stakeholders to foster innovation and collaboration in the spinach industry.”

The conference will deliver a jam-packed program from RMIT University’s top-class facilities right in the middle of Melbourne on Monday 1 May.  The Organising Committee are assembling the world’s leading researchers and experts from across the spinach industry’s supply chain to present on a broad array of topics.

Notably, these will include Distinguished Professor Jim Correll from the University of Arkansas and Dr Lindsey du Toit from Washington State University.  They have both long been involved in delivering the Conference to the world’s spinach industry and are highly acclaimed researchers in their own right.  Jim’s extensive research has included a focus on downy mildew in spinach and integrated management practices.  Dr Lindsey du Toit, also a plant pathologist, will bring her expert knowledge on diseases effecting spinach including Fusarium and Verticillium Wilt.

Bayer, as the Major sponsor, will present their new, extensive and massively upgraded spinach portfolio that’s coming to market.  Wood says,

Other topics which will be covered will include damping off complex, organic spinach production, food safety of leafy vegetables and global consumer trends, ensuring that there will be plenty of content for growers, marketers and all others involved in the industry to learn.

Networking and learning will continue, with Bayer’s Spinach Industry Networking Cruise up the Yarra River on the Monday evening and a trip out to Boratto Farms in Bacchus Marsh to check out a series of field trials on the Tuesday.
