Changes to how growers can manage fall armyworm
The general farming community will now be able to access pheromone traps for the control of fall armyworm, following a recent decision by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) to amend PER89169.
Growcom have been working closely with integrated pest management (IPM) company, Bugs For Bugs and AUSVEG to encourage the APVMA to allow the general farming community access pheromone traps for the purpose of surveillance and monitoring.
Previously, only State Government staff were permitted to use pheromone traps.
The change allows all growers the opportunity to monitor for this destructive pest and gain valuable insight for timing effective application of management options.
