Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries has released fact sheets and a webinar regarding the invasive pest, fall armyworm.

The webinar focuses on the management of fall armyworm, while the fact sheets provide information about detections in QLD, crop and pasture impacts, current geographic spread, identification tips and management advice.

Fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) is an exotic pest that has been recently detected in Queensland.

Based on overseas experience, fall armyworm larvae can cause significant and sudden crop damage if left unchecked.

In the medium to long-term, QDAF will continue to work with industry to:

  • Identify the crops most favoured by the pest.
  • Assist industry to access appropriate chemical controls.
  • Help industry manage any pesticide resistance.

More information can be found on on the QDAF website.
