Vegetable Research Facility Open Day (Forthside)

Industry and community members are invited to join the The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) as it showcases the innovative research being undertaken to enhance the productivity, profitability and sustainability of agriculture in Tasmania.
TIA’s Forthside Vegetable Research Facility (Forthside) is the site of leading-edge agricultural research. Some of the research to be showcased at this event includes:
- Overview of TIA, Professor Holger Meinke
- Systemic downy mildew in poppies, Dr Jason Scott
- Industrial hemp trials, Dr Mark Boersma
- Soil health and management for optimum crop yield, Dr Bill Cotching and John McPhee
The Open Day will also feature presentations from guest speakers with a focus on precision technology. Guest speakers are Ryan McMahon from Remote Aviation Australia and Tim Neale from Data Farming (Queensland).
