Webinar: Pollination Insights

16 December @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

a special one-hour webinar exploring the critical challenges and future implications of pollination in a post-Varroa landscape. Featuring leading voices from New Zealand and Australia, this session will help growers understand what Varroa really means for feral bee populations, pollination reliability, and the broader horticultural sector.

This webinar brings together:

  • Richard Klaus, an experienced New Zealand commercial beekeeper and horticultural grower who witnessed Varroa’s establishment firsthand.
  • Emeritus Professor Ben Oldroyd, one of Australia’s most respected honey bee genetics and behaviour specialists.
  • Danny LeFeuvre, CEO of AHBIC and long-time commercial beekeeper.
  • Bianca Giggins, National Varroa Mite Coordinator at AHBIC, leading national extension and engagement.

Growers will gain insights into:

  • How Varroa spreads and what has been observed so far in Australia
  • The future of feral bee colonies and what their decline may mean for berry pollination
  • The New Zealand experience—what actually happened there, and what lessons apply here
  • Practical guidance for berry businesses from the new Berry Pollination Guide
  • Live Q&A with experts
