Organic soil amendment trial: update from Richmond, TAS

Case study
On-farm and crop management

The Soil Wealth ICP demonstration site in Richmond, southern Tasmania, is hosted by Harvest Farms.

In 2018, a trial was established to examine the costs and benefits of quality compost as an organic soil amendment on spinach babyleaf crop yield and quality.

This case study summarises the soil pathogen DNA results from 2020, or year three of the trial.

A full summary of year three  including other data such as soil microbial tests, soil moisture holding capacity and conventional soil test results  will be available soon.

In the meantime, you can visit the Richmond demo site page for more information on the approach and results from year one and year two of the trial.

This resource has been delivered as part of the Hort Innovation-funded Soil Wealth and ICP project – jointly delivered by RM Consulting Group and Applied Horticultural Research.
