Berlin Fruit Logistica is one of the world’s leading fresh produce trade shows, bringing together over 3,200 exhibiting companies to showcase their products and services to over 78,000 trade visitors from around the world – and Australian vegetable growers have a chance to be part of this massive event as part of an industry-funded mission.
An upcoming industry leadership and development mission will be taking growers to attend next year’s Berlin Fruit Logistica, running from 6-8 February 2019, with expected travel dates to be 3-16 February 2019.
Successful applicants will visit the Logistica as part of a two-week study tour of western European vegetable industry sites, which will also include visits to major protected cropping growing regions and innovative agribusinesses in Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.
These tours are part-funded by Hort Innovation so Australian vegetable growers can visit overseas industries and gain a broader perspective on our work back home.
By taking part, you’ll be able to:
- Learn more about the latest production practices and innovative technology being used around the world and consider how these could be translated into the Australian industry.
- Increase your understanding of the issues facing growers overseas and how they’re tackling them, which can help you better analyse your own production challenges and consider new approaches.
- Build and strengthen your relationships within the vegetable industry – both with your fellow delegates, who’ll be growers from around Australia, and with international industry members who’ll have new ways of looking at problems.
Participants will be required to make a contribution of $3,000 (including GST). Flights, accommodation, transport and most meal expenses will be covered by mission costs.

Leadership and development missions for the vegetable industry
This mission is part of ongoing levy-funded work to link our industry with its international counterparts and improve our own capabilities to adopt innovative practices and technology, made possible as part of Hort Innovation’s Vegetable Fund.
Previous missions have been hugely popular with participants thanks to the great knowledge and experiences that they’ve gained from first-hand engagement with overseas industries and the strong friendships they’ve developed with their fellow delegates.
To learn more about the experiences on offer as part of these leadership and development missions, take a look at the recaps we’ve published of AUSVEG-led missions over the past year:
