26 June 2019Ian Muir, Managing Director of E.E Muir & and Sons, one of the leading providers of service and advice to farmers across Australia, has been recognised for his diligent and extraordinary services to the horticulture industry with the AUSVEG Lifetime Achievement Award at Hort Connections 2019 on Wednesday 26 June.
The AUSVEG Lifetime Achievement Award is a special award that recognises the extraordinary achievements of an individual in the horticulture industry. It is only given when an outstanding individual is identified as having worked passionately and tirelessly for the interests of the Australian horticulture industry.
The award was presented by AUSVEG CEO James Whiteside, who praised Ian’s successful business acumen and his unrelenting commitment to the horticulture industry and its producers.
“Ian’s outstanding reputation in our industry is testament to the longevity and commitment of Australian-owned family agribusiness E.E. Muir & Sons and its high level of service to farmers across its 92 years of operation,” said Mr Whiteside.
“During his 44 years in the business, Ian has worked to build incredibly strong relationships with growers in every Australian state and territory. While the business has always focused on farm productivity, with a strong emphasis on technology transfer and innovation, it prioritises strong relationships with farmers – and this has been key to its enduring legacy of success.
“More recently, the business has embraced a focus on sustainability, again driven by the needs of growers to have access to the best technology and farm practices so they can be more environmentally-sustainable. This was recently acknowledged on the global stage when the company was crowned the Asia Pacific Regional Winner of the 2018 Corteva Environmental Respect Awards.
“Ian has been a tireless supporter of the industry for many years. His strong business ethics, enormous optimism and his business and personal relationships with so many people in the horticulture industry make him a very worthy winner of this AUSVEG Lifetime Achievement Award.”
The Hort Connections 2019 National Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner honoured growers and other members of the Australian horticulture industry for their outstanding achievements. The dinner was the capstone event of Hort Connections 2019, which drew around 3,500 local and international delegates to the premier event in Australian horticulture.
