Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is used to control pests without relying on pesticides alone. An IPM program greatly reduces the cost of pesticide, even though more expensive products are used (i.e. instead of cheaper broad spectrum insecticides that kill beneficial insects, which can result in other pest problems). This 2-page factsheet lists the beneficial insects that are commonly found in celery crops (and contains photos of three of them). The key insect pests and minor insect pests of celery are discussed and an IPM approch is presented including monitoring and decision making guidelines and the role of pesticides.
