The Soil Wealth and Integrated Crop Protection project, delivered by RM Consulting Group and Applied Horticultural Research, have produced an article about whether growers should sell the hay they grow as a cover crop or whether they should plow it in. The article outlines four factors to consider before making the decision, including soil compaction, loss of soil’s protective covering, reduced organic matter input and nutrient removal.
