7 July 2020AUSVEG has welcomed the government’s announcement to extend the International Freight Assistance Mechanism (IFAM) until the end of the year, which will allow Australia’s vegetable grower-exporters to continue to supply important export markets to meet the demand for high-quality fresh vegetables.
IFAM has secured additional $240 million in government funding to extend the program until the end of the year.
This extension brings the total funding government has now committed to IFAM to $350 million, and is expected to assist $3 billion of exports by December 2020.
The IFAM program has already assisted more than 1,800 flights to deliver 36,000 tonnes of agri-produce to over 50 international markets, valued at $1 billion.
