20 July 2022The New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) is working to protect the NSW honeybee industry from the Varroa mite (Varroa destructor) situation.
On Sunday, the NSW government made a new Biosecurity Order available, including one new infested premises detected.
The infested premises is located east of Singleton, within the existing Hunter area emergency zones.
Varroa destructor is a serious parasite of adult European honey bees, (Apis mellifera) (EHB) and is considered the greatest threat to Australia’s honey and honey bee pollination plant industries.
