CSIRO’s VegEze app is an innovative approach to tackling Australia’s poor vegetable intake, challenging users to eat more veggies through a three-week challenge.

Funded through a strategic levy investment by Hort Innovation, the app challenges users to eat three different vegetables at dinner every day for 21 days. It’s also the main element of a CSIRO research study investigating the impact of using a mobile phone app to give consumers practical recommendations about eating vegetables.

Nearly 1,000 people from around Australia have already completed the challenge, which is a great way of helping consumers gain all the health and lifestyle benefits they can enjoy by having a vegetable-rich diet – from feeling better and being able to keep up with the kids to reducing the long-term risk of heart disease.

If you’re working in our industry and haven’t already downloaded this free app, click here to download it on the Apple app store and give it a shot. By taking part in the challenge you can take advantage of a valuable resource that helps you increase your vegetable consumption, and you’ll also be supporting the industry by contributing to a research project!

As well as the 21-day challenge, the app also features great educational resources like visual guides to specific vegetable serve sizes, vegetable-rich recipes, and nutritional information on vegetables to help you understand the benefits you’re getting by increasing your consumption.
