VegEze app helps Australians increase their vegetable intake
A new edition of InfoVeg Radio, the research and development podcast for the vegetable industry, has been released. This edition looks at VegEze, an app developed by CSIRO and SP Health and funded by Hort Innovation which encourages users to increase their vegetable consumption through a number of gamification methods including challenges and rewards.
This app takes a gamified approach to motivate Australians to add extra vegetables to their daily diets, with a particular focus on adding more vegetable variety to their dinner, as part of an effort to help them develop long-term healthy habits. CSIRO nutritionists are also studying how effective the app’s structure and delivery is in helping transform consumers’ eating patterns as part of a broader research study looking to generate knowledge about health interventions.
In this episode, we speak to Dr Gilly Hendrie, a research scientist from CSIRO, who discusses the purpose of the app, the ways the app may assist users in increasing their vegetable consumption and how the data gathered from user involvement will be used in future research.
