This project provides a market-based analysis of the Japanese melon industry. Its objective is to establish a market profile of melons in Japan that would help to estimate the future prospects for melons in Japan. It used a three-phase approach. One is an examination of annual trends. Specifically it looks at production, import and wholesale data which establishes the braod demand and supply parameters. Phase two uses monthly data to examine the existence of a seasonal window. Phase three looks at other issues which affect the future supply and demand parameters.
