Buttercup squash is a potential new export crop for Tasmania because of its declared freedom from fruit fly, suitable climate, experienced growers and export awareness and a recognised reputation for clean, healthy food. This study investigated various agronomic practices which can influence crop production in Tasmanian conditions. It defined under Tasmanian conditions the influence of location, plant density and windbreaks on the yield and quality of Buttercup squash. A bulletin incorporating these research findings was prepared outlining the basic cultural requirements for this crop.
