3 March 2019The February/March 2019 edition of Potatoes Australia magazine, featuring a more colourful new design, has now been published! This edition has a great mix of local research and development and information from international studies, as well as updates on news around the Australian industry.
One of the highlights of this edition is a deep dive into recent research looking at potato seed quality and management. This detailed investigation includes three case studies of growers around the country to look at the on-farm changes they’ve made to maintain the quality of their seed and potato production, from coolstore technology to irrigation upgrades.
On the biosecurity side, we’ve got the final farewell from Dr Kevin Clayton-Greene, who’s been AUSVEG’s biosecurity adviser for the past seven years. AUSVEG National TPP Coordinator Alan Nankivell also provides an update on tomato potato psyllid surveillance during the 2018-19 growing season and the future surveillance plans for each state jurisdiction.
For those interested in the consumption side of our industry, there’s an article profiling how the South Australian Research and Development Institute takes consumers through sensory testing to help retailers and food producers understand what consumers want when making their food choices.
As always, we also have profiles on growers to tell the stories of our industry. In this edition, we talk to Robert Cerchiaro from Red Gem Growers and Packers and Frankie Galati from the Galati Group.
You can find all these articles and more in the February/March 2019 edition of Potatoes Australia magazine, which is available in the publications section of our website.
