This project was undertaken to determine the effectiveness of a parent-led intervention to improve the consumption of vegetables among young children, by addressing the commonly cited problem of children’s taste preferences. The study was conducted in 3 cohorts over nine months; data collection is complete for cohorts one and two and cohort three is currently under way. The children and parents were randomised into three groups; exposure to vegetables, exposure to vegetables with a sticker reward and control group. After 2 weeks of intervention, liking for target vegetable increased significantly for all groups with greater mean improvement in both exposure grous compared with the control group.
