The project involving over 20 properties in WA indicates that efficient fertiliser use depends on good irrigation scheduling and schronisation of the application of nutrients with crop demand and uptake, seeking to the vegetable growers to improve their irrigation systems and nutrient use. The research conducted validates irrigation scheduling recommendations for a range of vegetables along with demonstrating the use of compost and addition of clay can reduce the need of crop fertiliser and increase yields.
