This project started in 1989 initially as a three-year project funded by voluntary contributions from Edgell-Birds Eye and McCain Australia with matching HRDC support. Thirty cultivars have been imported and evaluated and three are in the introduction stage. Several of the more promising introductions are in grower trials and all accessions have been provided to the National Breeding Program.
