In Australia, there are 330,000 tonnes of carrots produced annually from approximately 7,500 ha with a farmgate value of A$150m. Some species of plant-parasitic nematodes are a significant constraint to carrot production. This 2-page factsheet is a guide to the control of nematodes in carrots and includes: background information on nematodes, discussion of root knot nematode (RKN) and other nematodes harmful to carrots, different strategies for controlling nematodes (including judicious use of fumigants and non-fumigant nematicides) and helpful technology that may become available in the future (including resistant varieties).
