Short Summary
This presentation reports the findings of project VN05007, which evaluated and identified suitable fungicide options for onion white rot control and developed a post-plant foliar fungicide application program to extend the disease protection period until harvest. Although this work was partially funded by Onions Australia (i.e. using the onion R&D levy), some of the trials were conducted on spring onions. It is up to users to ensure chemicals are currently registered or permitted for the intended use.

Prior to this project (VN05007), fungicides were only applied to prevent early white rot disease, but there was no commercially effective program to extend crop protection until harvest. This presentation, given at the Workshop on Onion White Rot Control (Devonport, 23 May 2008) presented the results of trials aimed at identifying suitable fungicide options and developing a post-plant foliar fungicide application program to extend the disease protection period until harvest. Although this work was partially funded by Onions Australia (i.e. using the onion R&D levy), some trials were conducted on spring onions. It is up to users to ensure chemicals are currently registered or permitted for the intended use.
