Vegetable growers in this state had an ineffective input into the decision making process due to a lack of communication between the growing regions. To solve this, a Regional Communication Network involving all the major growing regions in Western Australia was needed.

The Australian Vegetable Industry Strategic Development Plan aims to make the industry “cohesive, profitable and environmentally responsible” by 2010. For Western Australia, the distance between vegetable enterprises is vast and as such, a good communication network had never been developed for the state. This project was established to unify the industry within Western Australia.
