Pumpkin Varietal Improvement
29 February 2000Young Vegetable Growers Group Pilot Study
1 May 2000Confusion about quality management systems and lack of knowledge and skills limit the ability of the horticulture industry in Australia to adopt these systems. This project was developed to address the problem of poor adoption of quality management systems, particularly by the small to medium growers in the industry. During the project, supermarket demands for quality management systems to ensure safe food supply became a reality. This project is a quality management training course consisting of a series of 10 half-day workshops spread over 18 months. The concept was to introduce various aspects of quality management at each workshop and encourage participants to implement these aspects on-farm between workshops.
This project has been funded by Hort Innovation, using the research and development levies listed below and contributions from the Australian Government. Hort Innovation is the grower-owned, not-for-profit research and development corporation for Australian horticulture.
