This project was undertaken between October 1992 and September 1994 to investigate the link between soil characteristics and cadmium concentration in potato tubers. The specific objectives of the study were to investigate the following: if regional differences in cadmium content of potato tubers are significant, if soil characteristics are important in determining cadmium uptake by potatoes and if so the most important soil characteristics to be measured for predicting potential problem soils.
