Attachment
This project has allowed the development of butternut lines with a high degree of resistance to etch. This is in combination with other desirable agronomic characteristics such as large fruit, good plant vigour, compact growth, and apparently some resistance to powdery mildew. This material compares very favourably with the latest developments in butternut breeding. Further development of the material to incorporate virus resistance and refine the germplasm was deemed very desirable.
