- Leeks have registered dollar sales growth this year, however kilogram sales have declined by –5.5%. Carrots and Onions are the only vegetables within the competitive set that have registered both dollar and kilogram sales growth this year.
- Slightly ahead of trends at total market level, Leek average price per kilogram increased at +8.8% this year. Whilst the highest average price per kilogram in the competitive set, this growth is behind Carrots, Cauliflower and Broccoli/Broccolini.
- In the latest 52 weeks, there are fewer households buying Leek compared to year ago, however purchase frequency levels have been maintained at 3.2 occasions per annum.
- Other, smaller supermarkets and Greengrocers/Markets are driving the decline in kilogram sales for Leek this year, against slight growth registered by Major Supermarkets.
- Leek sales are declining amongst all household types this year, with the exception of Independent Singles and Young Transitionals.
