Simplot potato growers from the Deloraine Grower Business Group travelled to the USA and the EU in July 2008. The focus of the study tour was on “whole of crop” (WOC) harvest systems. The study tour reviewed all factors that impact on size, quality, uniformity, and ease of harvest and large potential for improvement was identified. Several different types of grading operations were examined that offered big scope for improvement over the present system.
