A Model For Lettuce Industry Development
1 June 2003Facilitating The Development Of The Vegetable Industry In Victoria
1 October 2003The export cauliflower industry has grown rapidly in the past but now has reached a mature phase where the growth has slowed. The main export markets for Australian cauliflower are Singapore and Malaysia. The slowing of industry growth is of concern as the industry was valued at $27.9m in 2001/2002. An industry plan which addresses issues which limit potential future growth has been developed by industry representatives. An outcome of this project was the implementation of strategies identified in the plan to increase the productivity and profitability of the export cauliflower industry. The identification of the cauliflower varieties that are suitable for the export market or can be grown in periods of the year where it has been difficult to produce high quality curds was a valuable outcome of the project.
This project has been funded by Hort Innovation, using the research and development levies listed below and contributions from the Australian Government. Hort Innovation is the grower-owned, not-for-profit research and development corporation for Australian horticulture.
