This 4-page fact sheet, produced as part of the IPM Vegetable Disease Program, summarises the key findings of project VG07070, which aimed to assess the efficacy and economic benefit of control options for these diseases in lettuce and brassicas. The key messages are: plant resistant varieties; irrigate crops in the morning to reduce leaf wetness; manage nutrients, as they impact on disease; and use disease forecasting models when cropping susceptible varieties. Economic benefits were obtained when these guidelines were followed, ranging from a 5% to a 25% increase in profit.
