NFF launches agriculture workforce survey
The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) has opened a new Farm Workforce Survey and is asking farmers to report on their ability to meet their businesses’ labour requirements.
With the NFF recently launching a Horticulture Council to increase horticulture’s representation when considering the issues that set the national agriculture agenda, AUSVEG strongly encourages all growers to take part in the survey and supply valuable data that can quantify the the labour issues facing Australian horticulture.
Among other aspects, the survey aims to gauge farmers’ level of awareness of, and attitude towards, the various government programs that are designed to connect farmers with workers, especially those which aim to fill short-term labour requirements (such as the Seasonal Worker Program and the Working Holiday Maker program).
Every response is critical and can provide information that will help industry representatives provide advice to Canberra on how to best support Australia’s agriculture industry, including the horticulture sector.
