Gold Coast, Queensland – Adama Australia has taken out the AUSVEG Productivity Partner Award, proudly sponsored by Boomaroo, at the 2015 National Awards for Excellence – the most respected awards within Australian horticulture. The announcement was made tonight during a Gala Dinner event at Jupiters Gold Coast.

Boomaroo is a world-class vegetable seedling producer assisting in the productivity of the industry by supplying around 300 million seedlings to growers across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. The Productivity Partner Award recognises a business which has developed a new solution that directly benefits growers by improving productivity. The business must also have significantly contributed in a positive fashion to the Australian vegetable or potato industries, and shown a commitment to improving the industry’s productivity.

Adama Australia received the Productivity Partner recognition for its successful development of Trapview, a fully integrated system for growers to monitor pests in their crops. The system takes photographs of the crop at user defined times and stores the data collected on a cloud-based system, for growers to access from their computers or smart devices.

The innovative insect monitoring system was launched in Australia during the 2015 National Horticulture Convention, and has received widespread support from growers and industry leaders across the country.

“Adama Australia has delivered a system for Australian vegetable, potato, and horticulture growers that utilises an automated, real time data collection process and provides growers with an easy-to-navigate platform to analyse pest information and make decisions on how best to combat any pests that may be present,” said AUSVEG CEO Richard Mulcahy.

“Their research outcomes will have a profound impact on the way industry can deal with pests and will give growers the information they need to combat them. Trapview will directly benefit the productivity of the industry, which is why Adama is receiving this award.”

The 2015 National Horticulture Convention, incorporating AUSVEG and Apple and Pear Australia Limited, is the largest event in Australian horticulture, making the Awards for Excellence the industry’s night of nights.

AUSVEG is the leading horticultural body representing Australia’s 9,000 vegetable and potato growers.

“These awards celebrate those who lead by example – the achievers whose efforts are too often unrecognised by those outside the Australian industry,” said Mr Mulcahy.
